Free Christmas Tree Pick-Up: Turning Your Tree Into Something Good for New Mexico

After the holidays wrap up and the decorations come down, many families wonder what to do with their Christmas tree. Instead of tossing it to the curb or letting it dry out in the yard, we invite you to take part in something that gives back to our community and our environment.

For the first two weeks of January, Just Sprinklers will be offering our annual free Christmas tree pick-up throughout the Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, and Santa Fe area. Our team spends these two weeks collecting trees across the city, making it easier for families to wrap up the season while helping create something meaningful with their recycled tree.

Every tree we collect goes straight to our partners at Soilutions, where it’s processed, and turned into high-quality compost. This compost is then used to enrich soil across New Mexico, helping local gardens, landscapes, farms, and community projects thrive.

Your Christmas tree doesn’t just get thrown away; it becomes a resource that improves our desert soil and reduces landfill waste. One simple pickup creates a full circle of sustainability.

As part of this year’s initiative, we’re also collecting non-perishable food items during tree pick-ups. If you’d like to donate, just leave your items at the pickup spot with your tree, and our team will handle the rest.

All donated items will go directly to local food banks to support families right here in our community during a time of year when the need is often the greatest.

How It Works

  • Step 1: Register for a free pickup slot (Click Here to Register!)

  • Step 2: Place your tree and any donated food items outside on your scheduled day.

  • Step 3: Our team picks it up, recycles the tree with Soilutions, and delivers your food donations to local partners.

It’s simple, free, and makes a real difference.

At Just Sprinklers, giving back is part of who we are. We are proud to work alongside Soilutions and our community to turn post-holiday waste into healthy soil, and to support local families through food donations.

This is one of our favorite annual efforts because it brings together sustainability, generosity, and the spirit of the season… even after the season ends.
